Connected Camps Labs

How does Connected Camps Labs work?
With your membership, your child gets full access to all the online afterschool labs we’ll be running each week—they’ll have 12 sessions to choose from. This includes labs in game design, coding, media creation, and creative building in Minecraft. Labs are offered on different days of the week and kids can participate in as many as they like each month. Game Lab, for example, runs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, while Media Lab meets on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Labs will also include additional seasonal program in the spring, winter, and summer.

Can my child attend different labs every week?
Your child can hop between labs if they have a range of interests or specialize in one topic—it’s totally up to them.

In there a minimum age requirement?
Yes, the minimum age requirement is 8 for our afterschool programs.

How do I cancel my membership?
Members may cancel their membership at any time by logging into their account or by contacting us at support@connectedcamps.com.

General

What is Connected Camps?
Connected Camps was founded by three girl geeks with a passion for education and the positive potential of technology. Our mission is to build a global online community where kids build, code, play, and learn from one another. We tap the power of youth tech experts to teach and mentor, and have served thousands of kids through our online and community-based programs.  Learn more here.

Where are you located?
Connected Camps is located anywhere you can find a good internet connection. Our core staff is located in Southern California.

Why Minecraft?
Not only is Minecraft the most popular video game of all time, it’s a phenomenal platform for learning, exploring, and collaboration.  Think of it like virtual Lego.  We use it to teach coding, engineering, animation, modding and more.

How do you address privacy and security on your servers?
Although we will encourage campers to keep personal information private, we cannot prevent kids from sharing with one another online.  Moderators will remove personal information and explain to campers that sharing it violates our terms of service and risks their own privacy and security.

Does a Minecraft account come with my purchase?
No, you will need to purchase your own Minecraft account for a PC/Mac computer. You can purchase an account here: http://minecraft.net

Can we sign in using the Pocket, Xbox, Playstation, iPhone, or Apple TV editions?
No, our camps require the PC/Mac version of Minecraft.

What is the Connected Camps refund policy?
You are entitled to a full refund of your enrollment fees (i) for our camps, by notifying Connected Camps no later than 15 business days prior to the start date and (ii) for our events, by notifying Connected Camps no later than 48 hours prior to the start time of the event. A refund will not be granted if your child is banned from the server due to a breach of our Code of Conduct https://connectedcamps.com/code-of-conduct. For more details, see our Terms of Service https://connectedcamps.com/terms-of-service/

Can’t find an answer to my question, what do I do?

Summer Camp

What happened to summer camps?
Summer camps are now offered as a part of our Connected Camps membership. All members will have access to both labs and summer camps.

Mentoring

Is there a minimum age requirement?
Most of our programs come with age requirements because they are group experiences. In 1-1 mentoring we are happy to welcome any campers who are a good fit for the program.

Does a Minecraft account come with my purchase?
No, you will need to purchase your own Minecraft account for a PC/Mac computer. You can purchase an account here: http://minecraft.net

What will my kid learn?
They will learn to manage their own projects from conception to completion. Working with our awesome counselors will help develop a sense of exploration and innovation. Some of our most popular topics are coding, modding, animation, and engineering. If you would like to explore another topic let us know – our counselor team has a wide range of skills and interests from game design to youtube and more.

What makes this different from your other programs?
Because our mentoring program is 1-1 we can offer highly personalized service, working on projects of your choice. Participants will usually work on their projects between weekly meetings with their mentors.
