PLEASE READ THIS PRIVACY POLICY CAREFULLY BEFORE ALLOWING YOUR CHILD TO USE CONNECTED CAMPS

You and your child’s privacy is important, and we want to make sure you understand what personal information we collect from our users and why. We also want you to know about our practices so that you can make good decisions about how you and your child use Connected Camps. This policy explains what information we collect about you and your child and what we do with it.

This policy applies to all interactions you and your child have with Connected Camps, including when you or your child post content on our forum and interact with our site through widgets. You should review those services websites to learn about the information they collect and how they handle it. In addition to the privacy protections set forth in this policy, we expect that parents will closely monitor their children’s use of Connected Camps and their activity on the interactive portions of our site.

Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not want to agree to the terms and conditions set forth below, please do not use Connected Camps. Note that our Privacy Policy is part of our Terms of Service, and by using the site you agree to both.

Children’s Privacy Policy

We believe it is important to keep parents and legal guardians informed about how we collect, use and store personal information from children under the age of 13. While we expect that information regarding your child disclosed in the registration process was provided by you as their parent or legal guardian rather than by the child, it is possible that your child will disclose personal information through their use of Connected Camps.

Information we collect from children and how we collect it

Information we collect directly

We collect information about your child from you at the time of registration. We use this information to create aggregate data about our users that allows us to tailor our services to the appropriate demographic and enhance your child’s experience with Connected Camps. In addition, personal information regarding your child, such as their Minecraft username, is collected and used to enable their participation in Connected Camps and use certain interactive features such as the live chat function of Minecraft.

Children can post directly on our site through our forums and during live game play. Through the interactive functions of Minecraft, your child’s username will appear to other users during game play. Campers also have the option to use the live chat function through which they can interact with other players. It is possible that your child will disclose personal information via the live chat function. We occasionally broadcast streaming video of game play on the publicly accessible sections of our website and archive such videos on our YouTube account, which is also accessible to the general public. Your child’s username and messages may appear in those videos should he or she choose to use the live chat function. Parents should closely monitor their children’s use of Connected Camps and information they post to public forums.

Information we collect indirectly

We may also passively collect information about your child. For example, we may collect certain non-personal information from all visitors to Connected Camps, such as IP address, the date and time of visit, time spent on the site, and type of browser used, the operating system used, and ISP from which the visitor receives Internet access and aggregate information regarding pages that users of the site access or visit. This information may be combined with the personal information that we collect from users.

Tracking activities on the site

When the child is logged in, we track the date and time of general system interactions such as password reset requests. This information is associated with your child’s username and helps us follow these types of actions taken

How we use your child’s personal information

We use children’s usernames to monitor their activity on Connected Camps. We may use non-personal information such as information about the pages visited to improve the design, content and performance of our site, or to analyze site usage and the popularity of certain pages of the site.

We may also match the non-personal information we collect from site visitors (such as pages visited) with the personal information (such as the child’s name and age or other account information). Such combined information is kept confidentially in our secure, internal database.

Connected Camps does not disclose you or your child’s personal data

We will not sell, rent or trade your child’s personal information. We will only share your personal data with your consent, and after letting you know what information will be shared and with whom, unless it is otherwise permitted in this policy.

Anonymous and aggregated information that cannot be linked back to an individual user may be presented in findings by researchers associated with Connected Camps.

Our community guidelines stipulate that children should not share private and identifiable information with one another or communicate with each other outside of our programs without parental permission. All interactions in our servers and classes, including private messaging, are moderated to ensure this. Please understand, however, that we are not able to monitor interactions outside of our programs. For example, participants may have access to Minecraft usernames and each other’s YouTube channels as part of their participation. We encourage parents to stay abreast of children’s online connections both inside and outside of our programs to encourage positive online friendships.

How to request deletion of your child’s information

Because the interactive function of Minecraft is an essential part of the Connected Camps experience, to the only way to prevent displaying your child’s username to other users and to use the live chat function requires that we delete your child’s account. You may choose to delete your child’s Connected Camps account at any time. If you delete your child’s account, your child’s username will no longer be visible to users of the site, and will be deleted from our servers. We will remove your child’s ability to post on our forums upon request.

If you wish to do so, please contact us using the process described in “Contact Us” below. However, please understand that, even after removal, your child’s content may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or by others if a user has copied or stored such content. Moreover, a record your child’s username and content may remain displayed in archived videos posted to our YouTube account. As set forth in our Terms of Service, our current policy is to not grant refunds in the event you choose to remove your child from Connected Camps.

We have implemented commercially reasonable safeguards to protect personal information that we collect and store. Despite these precautions, however, no data security safeguards are foolproof. Unauthorized individuals may find ways to obtain personal information from or to access Connected Camps. Please keep in mind that we cannot and do not guarantee that content posted to Connected Camps will not be viewed by unauthorized persons.
